Parks and Campgrounds

National Park
This link takes you to the National Park Service on the net.  When you get there click on Visit Your Parks for information on our National Parks.  Here you'll also find information on The various park   Passes, such as the Annual Pass for younger people, the Senior Pass for those over the age of 62 and the Access Pass for those on disability.  The Senior or Access Passes can save you 50% on camping fees in National Campgrounds.  You can now make Reservations at National Park Campgrounds.
The NRRS (National Recreation Reservation Service) is a one-stop reservation service for the the USDA Forest Service (which lets you search by State or by forest name), Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation outdoor recreation facilities and activities.  With over 45,000 reservable facilities at over 1,700 locations, the NRRS is the largest outdoor recreation reservation service in the country.  Their Weather Page is excellent with 7 day forecasts and severe weather warnings.  They have links to the Scenic Byways site and the National Trail system site among other good links.
U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers provides over 30 percent of the recreational opportunities on Federal lands.  The Corps is the largest provider of water-based recreation, offering fishing, boating and camping.  Facilities are listed by region and state.  There are about 463 Corps of Engineers Lakes in the United States.  There are many different volunteer jobs such as, campground host, visitor center, fish and wildlife, many other volunteer positions.
American Park
Click on the park of your choice.  There is much information on each park such as trails, sights to see, activities in the park, camping information, history of the park and weather in the park.
Wal-Mart Many campers traveling the interstates sometimes like to boondock overnight at a Wal-Mart.  This link gives you state-by-state listings of all Wal-Mart locations as of March 2012.  The list shows if they allow overnight parking or not.  If you select the map option, you can see which locations do not allow overnight parking.  There is also a list that identifies each non-parking location.

OK, so maybe you're not the back-to-basics kind of camper that likes State Parks, National Parks, National Forests and Corp of Engineer Parks.  Maybe you want a few more of the creature comforts like water, electricity, wi-fi and maybe even the occasional cable TV? ...then why not try one of the links below to find a campground a little more to your liking!

Woodalls Campground search... take your pick from over 14,000 commercially-owned and government-owned park listings from the  Woodall's Campground Directory. This powerful search engine will allow you to search on a variety of criteria to find the right campsite for you.
Trailer Life Click on a state on their map and get a listing of cities for that state, then click a city for nearby campgrounds.  Excellent site. 
RV Net Linx A listing of campgrounds by state.
Yahoo Park
Yahoo Park Search lets you search by state for campgrounds.  Lots of good information on the campgrounds found but it only finds a limited number of campgrounds per state.
Go Camping America This site has a clickable map of North America and also a search engine to help you find a limited number of campgrounds.


If you're into paying for each person above 2 and don't mind a lot of add on charges, then search here for a KOA near you.  Pick a state to show campgrounds in that state.  Most locations have a wireless internet service.
Wi-Fi for RVers Now days most RV parks have Wi-Fi but this link has some additional locations listed by state - keep in mind that some listings may be seasonal. 

At Wireless Trips.com which was last updated in 2008 you can choose your location from the map and find some access in any state.

Bing Maps Find detailed maps and directions from Microsoft. Put in your start and end points then hit "go" to get directions for the shortest route. You can drag the route or the start and end points to change it to your exact needs.
Google Maps Click on "Get Directions" and enter your start and end points to get directions for your trip. Like Bing Maps,  You can drag the route or the start and end points to change it to your exact needs.
Map Quest Find detailed directions from point A to point B, find a map or plan a trip route. Not as user friendly as the Bing Maps.

Find an RV
RVIA (Recreation Vehicle Industry Association) represents the manufacturers of 95% of all RVs made in the U.S. -- motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers, folding camping trailers and truck campers. Search by company name or type of vehicle. Or check out the quite extensive list of RV Manufacturers at RV Net Linx.
RV Dealer
Try RV Net Linx for a state by state dealer listing also.  Also check out the Dealer Locator at RVusa website that will search within a given radius of any zip code.
National Traffic and Road Closure Information. Local Department of Transportation would be the best source for a state road conditions or rest area information. This site has all 50 states linked to their local DOT pages, where you can get a detailed map of road constructions and other travel information necessary to get around the state.

Highway Conditions dot com provides easy access to travel and traveler information including road conditions, freeway conditions, highway conditions, ferries, traffic, transit, and weather across Canada, in English and French.  Looking for a hotel or motel?  Are the road conditions difficult, or is it time to take a rest?  Conveniently make hotel reservations along the way.

RV Dump Station
It's not something any RVer enjoys doing but it is something that must be done. Eventually the holding tanks must be emptied. To find the location of dump stations across America, begin by selecting a state on a map or from a list.
RV Shows Find an upcoming RV show and get information about it at the RVIA website.  You can also check for upcoming RV shows at the RVusa website.
Trailer Life They not only have a campground search engine in the lower right corner of this page, but they also cover Trailer Life magazine and have recent articles available to read. Lots of good links and info on this page, like vehicle tow ratings and such... check it out.
